Cooperative parenting, or parental coordination, is a service I provide for couples going through a high-conflict divorce.  This service is designed especially for those individuals that have been divorced for more than a year (or more) and find themselves back in court constantly due to the other spouse filing charges against them for an array of reasons. Those individuals that are not divorced yet find themselves in the middle of the legal process and cannot work with their soon to be ex-spouse, are also appropriate for this service.

My treatment role in regards to high-conflict divorce is that of a "mediator" of sorts.  Although, what we do is not mediation. This is different than my role as a psychotherapist.  This can also been called Cooperative parenting.

When providing the cooperative parenting or parent coordination services, I often find it necessary and clinically appropriate for me to work with the children as their therapist.  I believe that the entire family being seen by one professional decreases the conflict that arises when issues develop. There is only one professional involved in working with the children (for counseling) and the parents - for collaborative parenting, not counseling. If either of the parent's choose to work with an individual therapist outside of the collaborative process, I am happy to work with the professional and collaborate as necessary.  I am also involved with guardian ad litems, attorneys, and judges in this process.

The rationale behind my treatment approach is, when the same professional is working with the entire family system, conflicts are dealt with in a structured manner and thus decreases the necessity for high-conflict. Both parents feel they are being heard and both realize they need to work together for the sake of their children. If during this process I feel it necessary to discuss something with one or the other parent regarding an issue that has developed that directly involves that parent,  I may do so with out the other spouse present so as to decrease the feeling that one parent is "to blame" for the conflict.

It takes both parents to argue and to create conflict. My treatment approach is that it is both parent's inability to communicate effectively that has created the post-divorce ongoing conflict. My role is not to "take sides".  Many high-conflict divorces start out this way due to adversarial and high-conflict litigation.

My ultimate goal ion this process, is to shelter the children from a great deal of heartache that is created from the ongoing conflict between the two parents that the children love immensely  Secondly, this process will keep both parties out of court and ongoing litigation. Attorney fees are very expensive.  I would also like to help the two parents utilize their hard earned money in a much more productive manner!

PLEASE BE AWARE: MY PARENT COORDINATOR SERVICE OR COOPERATIVE PARENTING SERVICES ARE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE COMPANIES AND WILL BE SELF-PAID.  I REQUIRE THE CHARGES TO BE SPLIT BY BOTH PARTIES.  See link for "My Fees" for the charges for this service.

Note:  When the children are seen within the context of collaborative parenting, with both or one parent present, I am able to bill insurance companies as it is considered "family counseling".

Conners 3 ADD/ADHD Testing

My practice also offers testing for children and adolescent attention-deficit /hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  This testing is done through use of the improved Conners 3 testing materials.  This assessment is much different than the previous Conner's assessment process.  I use the new Conners 3 Comprehensive assessment  procedures which includes a formal written analysis of the testing results. The test screens for ADD/ADHD, learning problems, and  peer/family relations problems This information is incredibly helpful for parents and schools when attempting to establish IEP's or other in-school assistance, or just to help the teachers understand your child better to ensure they have the most successful academic year possible.

My practice also provides Comprehensive Behavior Assessments through use of the Conners Comprehensive Behavior Rating Scale/Assessment (CBRS). Similar to the Conner's 3 test, this is done via a detailed clinical assessment as well as the actual testing.  A detailed written analysis is provided as well. This testing can screen for a wide range of disorder and concerns including Aspergers' syndrome, major depressive disorders, social phobia, friendship/relationship (social) abilities, anxiety, academic difficulties, aggressive behaviors, separation fears, compulsive behaviors, ADD, ADHD, OCD, strengths,
weaknesses, violence potential and emotional distress. This tool is incredibly helpful as it provides detailed feedback for parents to share with pediatricians, schools and other professionals that may need additional information in order to assist the child or adolescent.

Charges for the testing/assessment are as follows:

The Conners 3 ADD/ADHD Assessment/Testing: $350.00.  I do not bill through insurance companies for these services - charges are due in full prior to assessment process/testing taking place.  This charge includes the actual testing/assessment materials and a clinical evaluation of the child/parent , as well as a written report of the clinical findings.

The Conners Comprehensive Behavior Rating Scale/Assessment (CBRS):
$425.00.  I do not bill through insurance companies for these services - charges are due in full prior to the assessment process/testing taking place. These charges include the actual testing/ assessment materials, a clinical evaluation of the child/parent as well as a detailed written analysis/report of the testing/assessment.

This process is not to be scheduled through the online scheduling - please contact me via phone or e-mail to set up an appointment for these services.
