Effective June 1, 2008:
I have found over the many years I have done counseling that some clients, especially adolescents, need a little extra support between appointments. I have done this free of charge for many years. It have become such a popular part of my practice that I am now incorporating it into my work week - and will be charging for this service for clients who find this beneficial. Insurance does not pay for this service.
If you are interested in this service, or feel your adolescent would benefit from this between sessions, please let me know. The rate for this service is as follows. The client will have a credit card on file so that when an email transaction occurs a charge can be made to the credit card.
I charge emails in blocks of time. Such as:
$40.00 for 15 minutes of my time to respond to the email.
$75.00 for 30 minutes
$90.00 for 45 minutes
$125.00 for 60 minutes
I also provide a monthy rate - or 4 week rate of $ 300.00 for unlimited emails - "within reason". If the time I spend resonding to emails goes over 3 hours I will alert the individual that the folowing month they will not be able to do the "unlimited email plan again".
I can also let parent know if their kids are using too much email time so they do not incur too many expenses between appointments. It is a good way to keep yourself or you adolescent on target between appointments!
Email
Internet Counseling: (via e-mail)
Internet counseling is charged in increments of time that I take to respond to your questions and concerns. Billing is done in increments of 15 minute time periods - if the time falls outside of one of the times listed it is bumped up to the next charge. Charges are not pro-rated.
On-line Counseling is convenient for some individuals that are out of state or who have very difficult schedules to work around. INSURANCE DOES NOT PAY FOR ON-LINE COUNSELING - YET! Hopefully in the near future insurance companies will realize the importance of on-line counseling and pay for these services as they do face-to-face counseling services.
